When you’re stuck at home, with plenty of free time and good Internet connection, what’s your go-to way to spend time? For me, it’s with games! To be specific, I’ve been playing the latest hype game filled with fighting monsters, going on quests, and collecting your favourite characters.

If you haven’t heard of Genshin Impact yet, let me introduce you to the latest open world action role-playing game from developer Mihoyo. Genshin Impact is the current game on most gamers’ PC, Apple/Android mobile, or PlayStation (Nintendo Switch coming soon).

A scene from Genshin Impact

You start off your journey as the main protagonist and then transported to an alternative dimension called Teyvat where magic is quite common. As you go through the story, you learn to fight monsters, use elemental skills (Wind, Earth, Lightning, Nature, Water, Fire, and Ice), and craft items to help you in your journey (weapons, character materials, and… FOOD).

Did I mention this game is Free-to-play? Of course, you can’t forget the in-game purchases like Primogems used for the Gacha system to collect characters and weapons. Though, the luck might not be in your favour so, I would advise you to put a limit to your spending in this game.

Be wise about spending money and don’t shame Free-to-play players. The game is enjoyable regardless of the amount of money you spend.

Choose your persona and don’t let the fun end!

Genshin Impact also features some online multiplayer mechanisms – for the times when you just can’t defeat a boss alone. It may lag at times since you’re technically playing using your Internet. But it does make for some funny screencaps like people stuck mid-air.

The best part of Genshin Impact to me must be the music and the characters. Whether you’re able to get them in your party or not, you will LOVE each one’s quirky persona and distinct designs – I’m looking at you Venti and Zhongli.

So, is Genshin Impact the Greatest Game of the Year? I’ll leave that to you. But is it still an amazing game to try out? Definitely. See you in the co-op matches!
