Yet another sharing session from the on going series of Hear From Your Alumni programme, organized by the centre of pre-U. A session where students get to meet with IICS alumni to hear their experience and journey to the world’s prestigious universities, their experience of studying abroad and of course, priceless tips to get yourself a placement through the painstaking and competitive application process.
Personal statement, grades, extra-curricular activities, social responsibility, what else do I need to even be considered a placement? These are the few common questions, ubiquitous to all pre-U students, who wish to go the distance abroad in one of the top universities. However, most of them are unaware of the application process, deadlines to meet and other supporting documents, which most often than not, impedes and hinders their effort or even diminished the slightest confidence they could muster to submit an application to one their dream universities despite being perfectly qualify.
We were pleased to have pre-U students from IICS for these sharing session on 25th February, 2022. The alumni, Cheong Ruoh Yang, invited this round was a graduate from Oxford University from the School of Engineering Sciences. Students were given an exposure particularly to the application process and work flow on Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, or better known as UCAS. The highlights was on the Q&A session where students are actively asking various questions and tips regarding the composition of their personal statement.
As the modern saying goes, “your hindsight is 20-20”, and thus, we hope ones hindsight would serve as a valuable foresight, and that is called experience. This sharing session was a fruitful event for both the students and the centre of Pre-U IICS to better prepare and inspire CAL students never to shy away from achieving their dream.
