Talking about our feelings may seem like a challenging thing to do for most of us. Generally, the stigma that denotes the expression of emotions as a sign of weakness makes it even harder for people to open up about their struggles. However, it is proven that talking about your feelings is beneficial not only for you but those around you as well – it can help you to regulate your emotions and keep you in a good mental state as you verbalize your issues and deal with it instead of suppressing it.

Resident counsellors, Ms. Nazwa Haris and Ms. Yeoh Shu Yon organized a “Meet Your Counsellor” session throughout the month of June, as an initiative to establish a connection with students and build a trusting relationship with them. On top of that, the event is also aimed at encouraging open communication amongst fellow students and letting them know that help is available to them without discrimination.

We are here to lend an ear without any judgement!

Apart from giving students a platform to be heard, there were several other engagement activities carried out such as ‘Mandala coloring’, fun psychology test, and even a personality test for students to discover themselves through entertaining and meaningful ways. The respective activities were meant to help students learn about their personality and facilitate the discovery of their passions and interests by identifying their unique qualities and strengths. As a result, students will be able to have a deeper understanding of self and lead a more fulfilling and purposeful life.
