The School of Engineering & Technology has organised IBM BootCamp for two days from 16th -17th June 2022 in the Multi-Purpose Hall, Level 6. The boot camp was a collaborative event between INTI International College Penang (IICP) and IBM Malaysia. This event aims to establish and strengthen the partnership between IICP and IBM Malaysia and enlighten students in analytical problem solving/industry case scenarios.
A total of 80 students from BCSCU, BCTCU, DITN, and DCS programs participated in the 2-day event along with representatives from IBM Malaysia which were Mr Eddy Liew – GM of Technology Technical Sale, Mr. Aaron Lee – Brand Technical Specialist and Mr. Kok Wai – Integration Technical Specialist. The bootcamp was divided into two tracks which were focuses on Automation and Artificial Intelligence.
Day 1 was kicked off by opening speech from IBM Managing Director Catherine, followed by the career pathway talk by Eddy Liew and briefing session from Aaron and Kok on Artificial Intelligence and Automation. The students were then presented with the case study or problem they required to solve. The topic selected for the AI track was flood, while for the Automation track was tourism and students were divided into classes for the discussion group, which were coached by the lecturers. The IBM staff also take this opportunity to share and share their insights with the students during the discussion group.
On Day 2, there was a pitching session where each team of four members, was given 20 minutes to pitch the ideas, followed by 5 minutes of question-and-answer session. It was a fascinating and knowledgeable session.
CE of Inti International College Penang, Ms Hemalatha delivered a closing speech and prize giving ceremony. The MC of the event was a third-year student from BCSCU – Wong Kai Wern and Caroline.
