The members of the International Students Club (ISC) joined forces to organize the first ever International Charity Food Fair, which took place on July 20th 2022.
A wide variety of delectable food was served, mostly prepared and cooked by the international students to represent the national cuisine of their home countries. The staff and students were all spoiled for choice as there were plenty of options for main courses, snacks, and even desserts for the sweet-toothed.
Among the options on site were ‘Briyani’ rice with curry chicken to represent one of India’s national dishes, various types of chicken ‘Bun Thit Nuong’ from Vietnam, ‘Tteok-bokki’ from Korea, ‘Pluto Flan’ from the Philippines, bubble milk tea from Taiwan, ‘Basbousa’ from Iraq as well as local pasta from Pakistan.
The “Briyani” rice with curry chicken and homemade yoghurt sauce was the top hit on that day and sold out almost immediately. The “Pluto Flan,” on the other hand, was the sweet treat of the day and it kept the crowd coming back for more. It was encouraging to see countless staff and students turn up to support the cause and enjoy the delectable dishes.
Overall, the event raised over RM400 in profit which was all donated to “The Children Protection Society”. On top of making an impact, the ISC members were able to build a closer bond with one another as they collaborated and work hand-in-hand to manage their respective stalls.
