The Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) is Kota Kinabalu’s events destination which aims to contribute to the Sabah state’s economic development by partnering with local community and integrating sustainable practices in venue operations. SICC is owned by Innoprise Corporation Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Yayasan Sabah Group. The Yayasan Sabah Group is a Sabah State Government Statutory Body incorporated to provide educational opportunities and facilities to Malaysians in Sabah.
SICC is the largest waterfront purpose-built convention, exhibition and entertainment facility in East Malaysia. The complex’s gross built-up is 60,504sqm on a 6-hectare site, with a total function space of 153,197sqm.
This is the first industry visit hosted by SICC for the education institution. 2 staff and 20 students from INTI College Sabah participated in this event. They were welcomed by the HR, proceed with the site-visit of facilities and back-of-the house operations, meeting the Head of Departments for Career Talk and Sharing session, and the team were hosted on morning tea-break before departure back to campus.
This activity was supported by Datuk Hajah Rosmawait Haji Lasuki, CEO of Sabah International Convention Center; hosted by Ms. Donaty Koijin, Ms. Suzi Kamalia Binti Mohd Arpah and Ms. Fharelynne Ivonne Henry from Human Resource and Talent & Culture department.
We also gotten sharing session given by Mr. Azaman Nain, Director of Convention & Housekeeping, and site visit provided by Ms. Marie Mansuet, Assistant Director of Sales, and Yusof Abdul Razak, Event Manager. Overall it was an eye opener for INTI College Sabah staff and students. Students are very interested in the business operations and hope to start their career with SICC upon graduation. We are very grateful and proud to be the first education institution for this official industry visit hosted by SICC.
