INTI International College Penang Career Services hosted the Career Preparation Workshop on 2nd & 3rd of March.

On 2nd March we had the “Resume Tips and Be The Right Candidate” workshop with Deloitte. The guest speaker, Ms Tan Ling Hong went into detail regarding the journey of job searching, mainly focusing on the do’s and don’ts of resume writing. Following that, students were able to produce their own resume in the event. They were fortunate to be able to have Ms Ling Hong and her co-worker, Ms Nur Hanis Ishak review their resume and provide insightful feedback. Then, Ms Ling Hong breaks down the importance of LinkedIn and how students utilise it to increase their chance of employment. Lastly, the guest speaker shared about the career opportunities and the workshop end with the quizzes with prizes.

The guest speaker provided information regarding the journey of job searching and resume tips.

Overall, Ms Ling Hong’s advice to students was to make sure to build up their profile now by seeking out activities and being involved in club/societies. The students left the Career Preparation Workshop with satisfaction and new knowledge regarding resume building. In total, there were 48 participants attended the workshop.

The following day, the workshop on “Learning to Perform During Interview” was presented by Mr. Alex Goon, Senior Manager of University Relations, and Talent Acquisition from Micron. The workshop commenced with speaker introduction and company background sharing. Afterward there’s an interactive session on interview tips where the speaker emphasized on having realistic expectations during job search. Then, he also pointed that academics, technicality, and personality are significant factors during interviews.

During the Q&A session, students actively seek for the career advice. Mr. Alex also highlighted the importance of being realistic and well-prepared whenever comes to preparing for future career. An engineering student commented that this session was indeed a “realistic, practical, and insightful one”. Another student also mentioned “it was an amazing and insightful sharing by Mr. Alex especially when he shared about the reality of the working world, and it helped us to be more prepared in facing the reality.” In total, there were 45 participants attended the workshop.
