The APA Citations and Referencing Workshop was held at INTI International College Penang as part of a professional development series for all college students. The workshop was conducted in a well-equipped classroom with comfortable seating arrangements for participants.
The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Calvin Cheah, from the Center for American Education, who provided a brief overview of APA style, including the basic principles of in-text citations and reference lists. He used a multimedia presentation with visual aids to explain the intricacies of APA citations, highlighting the importance of proper attribution and crediting of original authors. He used real-world scenarios, such as citing sources with multiple authors or secondary sources, to challenge participants and encourage critical thinking in applying APA style guidelines. He also discussed common challenges in avoiding plagiarism and paraphrasing effectively, providing practical tips and techniques to overcome these issues.
