The School of Hospitality at INTI International College Subang (IICS) recently conducted several exciting activities, providing not only its students but also several high school students with valuable experiences and insights into the food and beverage (F&B) and culinary industry.

On February 18, 2023, the School of Hospitality (SOHOS) organised a wine-tasting workshop for its Diploma in Hotel Management students. F&B lecturer and Head of Programmes here in the School of Hospitality, Mr. Wan Mohd Osmanee Aidil Wan Abdul Azizan, led the workshop at Alkira Restaurant, a training restaurant at INTI College Subang. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the art of wine tasting, understanding the different types of wines, and their pairing with food. The students were taught about the various techniques of wine tasting, including sight, smell, and taste. They also learned about the correct storage and serving temperatures of different types of wines. The workshop was an excellent opportunity for the students to learn about the finer details of wine appreciation and was very well-received.

On March 9, 2023, the School of Hospitality conducted a Mexican bun baking workshop for high school students from St. Marians International School. The workshop was led by Chef Hanafi Mohamed Zakaria, a seasoned pastry chef who shared his knowledge and expertise in baking. The students learned how to make traditional Mexican buns know as “concha” (pronounced koncha) famously known as “Rotiboy” in Malaysia. The workshop was a fun-filled and interactive experience, providing the students with an excellent opportunity to learn about new cuisines and enhance their culinary skills.

On April 1, 2023, Chung Hua Independent School Klang invited Chef lecturer Mike Ong to share a glimpse into the exciting and diverse world of hospitality and culinary arts that can be experienced through studying at INTI International College Subang. The sharing session was highly interactive, and the students had the opportunity to ask questions and gain valuable insights into hotel management and culinary arts.

Overall, the students benefited significantly from these activities, enhancing their knowledge and skills and paving the way for a successful career in the industry.
