INTI’s LEO Club is a non-profit organization that strives to make a difference in the community by conducting various social welfare activities. One such activity is organizing blood donation drives to help patients in need of blood transfusions.
Every two seconds, someone in the world needs blood. Whether it is a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy, a trauma victim undergoing surgery, or a premature baby in the neonatal intensive care unit, blood transfusions save countless lives every day. However, there is a constant need for blood donors to ensure that hospitals and healthcare facilities have a steady supply of blood to meet patient needs.
Another benefit of blood donation is that it can improve the donor’s health. Studies have shown that donating blood can reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and certain types of cancer. This is because donating blood helps to regulate the iron levels in the body, which can be beneficial for people with high iron levels.
On 11 and 12 April, a blood donation campaign was launched in collaboration with INTI Leo Club and INTI Physio Club.
During the program, potential donors were screened to ensure their eligibility to donate blood. Once cleared, they proceeded to the donation area, where a trained healthcare professional collected their blood. Donors were then provided with snacks and refreshments and were asked to rest for a while before leaving.
A total of 210 donors participated in the blood donation program. Out of these, only 135 donors met the requirements to donate blood. Overall, the blood donation program was successful in collecting a significant amount of blood from a diverse group of donors.
The program was able to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and attract first-time donors. Blood donation is a selfless act that can save lives. It is a simple and easy way to make a significant impact on someone’s life. By donating blood, you can help ensure that there is enough blood available to meet the needs of patients. It is important to remember that anyone can be a blood donor and that every donation counts. So, let us join hands and continue to make a difference in the community.
