The School of Hospitality (SOHOS) recently organized a series of enriching experiences for its students, offering them the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and industry exposure. These excursions and collaborative activities allowed students to explore various aspects of the hospitality industry and develop valuable skills for their future careers.
On May 24, 2023, the students embarked on an operational tour of Resorts World Genting. The tour encompassed visits to prominent properties such as the First World Hotel, Genting Grand Hotel, Highlands Hotel, and Crockfords Hotel. Students had the privilege of exploring different departments, including food and beverage outlets, laundry facilities, and a comprehensive overview of the rooms offered. Additionally, they received valuable information about potential internship opportunities and opening doors for future career prospects in the hospitality sector.
Continuing their hands-on learning, the Diploma in Hotel Management students visited Kärcher Malaysia in Glenmarie, Shah Alam on June 9 for a housekeeping practical class visit. This visit allowed students to familiarise themselves with industry-standard equipment and practices, enhancing their understanding of the essential tasks performed in the housekeeping department.

Moreover, the SOHOS Society members collaborated with INTIMA for a heart-warming staff appreciation activity called “Cookies Baking.” This engaging event took place on May 16 and 17. By joining forces, the students expressed their gratitude towards the dedicated staff members, also honing their teamwork and culinary skills in a fun and interactive environment.
These educational tours and collaborative activities provided SOHOS students with a holistic learning experience. By immersing themselves in real-world hospitality settings, they gained practical insights, expanded their knowledge, and nurtured essential skills. The School of Hospitality remains committed to equipping its students with the necessary tools to excel in the dynamic world of hospitality, ensuring their readiness for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
