To support the STEM initiative, the School of Engineering (SOE) organized a STEM Day on June 7, attended by various internal and external departments, including the Center of Foundation Studies (CFSI), American University Program (AUP), Engineering Student Club (IEC), and Ansys.

STEM is a learning initiative that emphasizes innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking through the integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The term was first introduced by the U.S. National Science Foundation in 2001.

The event sought to promote STEM among INTI International College Penang (IICP) students by displaying current STEM activities and creating an enjoyable learning environment.

The STEM Day comprised three events: STEM showcase, Progression Talk, and Progression Workshop. STEM showcase is an event in which students demonstrate their exciting STEM projects. Some of the project presented includes drone technology, hydraulics system, and electronics system. Students who participated in the activities were tested by their peers on their grasp of the project and presenting skills.

Ansys representatives were also present about how advanced engineering software may help students with their engineering projects. Ansys is a 3D design and engineering simulation program specializing in Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Ansys was developed by Ansys, Inc., an American corporation headquartered in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.

Progression Talk is where foundation and diploma students discover what it’s like to continue their studies at INTI. They are briefed on the opportunities, benefits, and environments available to them at INTI. Students then participate in the progression workshop, designed to provide them with hands-on experience by solving a simple yet engaging STEM project.

STEM Day is an enjoyable event for both participants and spectators. It is an event where individuals can increase their comprehension of existing knowledge or discover new interests.
